Become a breathing coach

After having received so much interest from people who want to work with my techniques, I started the breathing coach training programme in May 2016.

The programme consists of three modules, but you’ll be able to work with the techniques from each individual module after completing and passing the module’s exam.

The programme is primarily aimed at those who are already working with people, as a therapist, teacher or voice teacher, or in another relevant position.

However, anyone can apply, and I will consider each application individually.

Module 1 will give you the right to present and implement my techniques in your practice. You’ll be authorised to give one-on-one consultations and duo consultations on the techniques.

MODULE 1

MODULE 1 gives you the title BREATHING COACH, and after completing the module, you’ll be authorised to see clients one-on-one and give duo consultations on the breathing techniques.

  • There will be practical exercises to do at home between each session.
  • Required reading: All chapters of the book BREATHING – How to breathe to feel healthy, confident and calm, as well as written materials you’ll receive during the first gathering.

The deposit of 3000 NOK is non-refundable. Once you have started the first module, the module will have to be paid in its entirety even if you choose not to continue with the course. You will, however, be given the opportunity to complete the course with a later group if you, for any reason, are unable to complete it within the year you start. The amount can be paid in full or split into 2, 3 or 4 payments, payable in addition to the deposit. The first payment, excluding the deposit, must be paid before you start the module.

We will cover the following topics:

  • What characterises Anette Aarsland’s breathing techniques?
  • Background and various breathing techniques from London and Milano
  • Thorough understanding of Anette’s breathing techniques, so you can master them 100% before you start teaching them to others
  • Why is the exhale so important?
  • The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
  • What does stored stress do to us? Why does lasting stress make us ill?
  • How can the individual use and integrate the techniques in their practice?
  • What are your thoughts on this? (Group work where we discuss this)
  • Do we breathe too much or too little air?
  • What does a superficial breathing pattern cause?
  • How can we turn this around?
  • How do we receive clients? Touch/understanding/personal connection
  • Why is the solar plexus so sensitive?
  • Respecting other treatment forms/medication
  • Anxiety and depression: What is important to remember in relation to breathing and these issues?
  • Breathing and snoring/nose or mouth breathing?
  • The important vagus nerve: how can breathing influence it and by extension our immune system?
  • Breathing and muscle tension in the neck, jaw, head, shoulders and chest
  • Bad breath
  • High blood pressure
  • Breathing and our heart rhythm
  • Should we breathe through the nose or mouth in daily life?

MODULE 2

NOTE! New dates will be released soon

Autumn 2022

All days between 12:00 – 17:00

To sign up for Module 2, you have to have completed and passed Module 1.

In Module 2, we will work on the connection between breathing and voice, and presentation techniques, as well as talking about breathing techniques for sports. You will learn the various techniques I studied in London and Milan, which are specific to using the voice. Module 2 consists of three weekends, as it takes time to implement the techniques in your own body and voice.

After completing Module 2 and passing the exam, you will be authorised to give presentations for businesses and organisations as well as individuals. You will, to a certain extent, be able to help clients who struggle with tiredness/hoarseness in their voice. (I write “to a certain extent” as there are some cases where a trained voice teacher or speech therapist is needed to do this. The techniques are still effective enough that you’ll be able to contribute positively in very many cases).

CONTENT:

  • Place: Core Balance, Rosenborggata 9A, Majorstua, Oslo, Norway
  • Client work between gatherings.
  • In this module too, you will have assignments to do at home where you will prepare presentations about breathing, as well as working on your techniques and your voice.

PRICE MODULE 2: 29 900 NOK

The deposit of 3000 NOK is non-refundable. Once you have started the first module, the module will have to be paid in its entirety even if you choose not to continue with the course. You will, however, be given the opportunity to complete the course with a later group if you, for any reason, are unable to complete it within the year you start. The amount can be paid in full or split into 2, 3 or 4 payments, payable in addition to the deposit. The first payment, excluding the deposit, must be paid before you start the module.

In Module 2, we will cover the following topics:

  • The relationship between emotions and our voice
  • Exercises to connect with the important support muscles we use when we use our voice correctly
  • How we can achieve a powerful, secure and authoritative speaking voice
  • Exercises to relax the jaw
  • Exercises to relax the root of the tongue
  • How we can untangle trauma using our voice
  • More exercises for our speaking voice
  • Breathing and stuttering
  • Breathing and weak/light voices
  • Hoarseness
  • How to build your course/presentation
  • How to make a personal introduction to your course
  • Breathing and sports: what should we think about when we exercise in relation to our breathing?
  • Memorisation techniques
  • Body language during courses/presentation: “Where do I put my hands?”, “How should I stand?”, “How should I enter the room?”, etc.
  • The all-important first impression.

In this module, the main focus is on the exercises that connect the breathing and the voice. There will therefore be less theory here than in Module 1.

Required reading: The rest of the book BREATHING – How to breathe to feel healthy, confident and calm, and any materials you receive during the course.

REQUIREMENTS OF THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED MODULE 2:

In addition to being a member of the breathing technique group (you can choose gold, silver or bronze membership), you will be required to pay Pusteteknikk AS 7.5% of the fees you make from breathing technique courses or presentations.

(If you are already using any of the techniques in courses you offered before the start of the course, fees from these courses can be disregarded. This will be discussed with each participant individually if there is any ambiguity).

MODULE 3

To be accepted into Module 3, you must have completed and passed Module 1 and Module 2. In addition, you must be a trained voice teacher or vocal coach and/or have previous experience working with singers/choirs.

MODULE 3 CONTENT:

In Module 3, our focus is on the singing voice, and techniques that strengthen this. The main purpose of Module 3 is to make you able to use these techniques in your work with singers, either during private singing lessons or with choirs.

You will also be given the opportunity to start your own breathing choirs around the globe.

Much of the focus will therefore be on starting and running a breathing choir, and part of the course will involve working with the breathing choir in Bærum.

REQUIREMENTS OF THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED MODULE 3:

The same requirements are in place as for Module 2, with the exception of starting a breathing choir. If you start a breathing choir, 10% of its income will be payable to Pusteteknikk AS. This is because the breathing choir is a unique concept for which the content should be the same for all choirs and close collaboration with me is required.
